SAIGE CHAPIN
Student Representative, Non-Voting Member — Term expires 06/30/2025
Saige Chapin is a driven first-generation student at Red Rocks Community College. Saige is actively pursuing degrees in Engineering, Mathematics, and Computer Science, with the ultimate goal of becoming a machine learning engineer.
Saige’s educational journey has been anything but traditional. First learning to read at the age of 11 and not having the opportunity to go to school until 17 years old. Her drive to learn earned her the honors award at her high school graduation only two short years after starting. Although this was only the beginning for Saige on her educational journey. After moving from Arizona to Colorado after her graduation, Saige planned to take a gap year before attending Red Rocks Community College. But due to the sudden loss of her sister, multiple chronic diagnosises, and a tumor, it would be 5 years before Saige returned to school.
Fast forward five years, Saige now serves as Chair of the State Student Advisory Council, Vice President of the Red Rocks Student Government, and President of the Womxn in STEM club. Her leadership extends to roles such as a Phi Theta Kappa Scholar, Trefny’s Honors Mentor, and Student Representative for the Safety Advisory Committee, as well as a voting member of the Red Rocks Collaboration Council. Through these roles, Saige strives to foster inclusivity, advocate for student needs, and elevate the voices of underrepresented communities to increase accessibility towards education for all.
Saige is also passionate about advocacy. In her spare time, Saige does advocacy for Sexual Assault Victims, Invisible Disability Awareness, and education accessibility. Her commitment to making education equitable and safe for all students exemplifies her belief in the power of change through leadership, compassion, and service. Saige’s own unique educational journey reflects both resilience and ambition, shaping her identity as a leader and advocate for marginalized voices in education.
