The Disability Access Services (DAS) Specialist is responsible for high level support services and accommodations for students with disabilities. This position works collaboratively with other DAS professionals, students and other relevant stakeholders to ensure that students are being provided appropriate levels of support while upholding our department’s firm commitment to disability ethics and social justice. This role will assist in the creation and support of an inclusive learning and working environment at ACC.  

This role has the following responsibilities:

Disability Services Professional 

  • Determine student’s eligibility through an interactive process to receive specific disability-related support services, the types of supports (accommodations and assistive technology) and ensuring that these supports are communicated with appropriate parties. Develop individualized accommodation plans that meet the student where they are.  

Assessment

  • Utilize assessment tools that track the efficacy of accommodations and use that information to collaborate with team to improve processes and best practices.  

Disability Advocacy 

  • Promote access to programs, facilities, and support services to ensure students with disabilities are able to fully participate in their education.
