Early Childhood Education (ECE) Skills Instructor (aka Skills Guide) in conjunction with ECE faculty provide ECE pre-service teacher students enrolled in a certificate or degree plan of study with advisement, coaching and assessment of teaching skill to students working with young children in a hands-on experience in a EC classroom setting.
In this role, the primary responsibilities include mentoring and instructing Early Childhood Education (ECE) students during field-based activities, offering skill-building support to enhance their teaching and classroom management abilities. The position involves coaching and providing constructive feedback on students’ teaching techniques, as well as assessing their application of coursework knowledge in real-world settings. The role requires maintaining accurate records of student progress, submitting final grades by established deadlines, and completing necessary paperwork, such as timesheets, classroom site evaluations, program assessments, and student evaluations. Additionally, the position acts as a liaison between the classroom site’s staff, students, and the ECE program, fostering effective communication and collaboration. Participation in reflective consultation, meetings, and events is also expected.
Part-time Instructors provide instructional duties for the College in their respective areas of expertise. They report to the department chair within the discipline and do not have any supervisory responsibilities. Responsibilities include instruction, student assessment, and other related instructional duties. Instructional delivery may include face-to-face, hybrid, and online. Classes may be held days, evenings, and weekends.
The instructor must be patient and respectful, while also providing their expectations for what is considered acceptable work. The instructor must display dedication to the class as well as the goals of the program. This position reports to the department chair within the discipline and does not supervise other employees. Occasional meetings or trainings may also be scheduled outside of regular work hours. The finalist must be willing to make Colorado their primary workplace, including for online classes.
**The pay for this position is $38.30 – $76,60 hourly, commensurate with education and experience. This is a part-time, FLSA exempt position and may work up to 28 hours per week, depending on budget and need. This position has been exempted from the State Classified System. **.
