Pikes Peak State College maintains a pool of qualified part-time instructors. Part-time instructors will be selected to support departmental requirements.

Job Description:

Part-time instructor positions (as defined by State Board Policy, BP 3-10) exist to create and maintain a teaching and learning environment that empowers students to be successful. Part-time instructors work under the direction of their respective Department Chair, Associate Dean, or Division Dean.

Pikes Peak State College maintains a pool of qualified part-time instructors. Part-time instructors will be selected to support departmental requirements. Part-time instructors may be employed to teach courses, conduct presentations or other service activities when current instructors and faculty are not available.

Must be a State of Colorado resident or able to relocate to Colorado prior to first date of employment. All work must be performed in the State of Colorado.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completed associate’s degree in a related discipline with four thousand (4,000) verifiable hours of relevant professional experience obtained within the last seven years; OR completed bachelor’s degree in a related discipline with two thousand (2,000) verifiable hours of relevant professional experience obtained within the last seven years; OR completed graduate degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credit hours in a related discipline with two thousand (2,000) verifiable hours of professional experience obtained within the last seven years. Candidates who demonstrate a combination of education, professional experience, and industry-recognized credentials—which may not strictly align with the typical qualification pathways—may still be considered for employment upon academic dean recommendation.
  • Ability to demonstrate or articulate a commitment to serving underrepresented populations or populations affected by societal inequities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bilingual or proficient in a language other than English.

  • Knowledge of instructional modalities and technologies.

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing education and professional development.

Pikes Peak State College participates in the Colorado Public Employees’ Retirement Association (PERA) contribution rates.

Special Note:

CTE Programs: Applicants must possess or be eligible to receive the relative Colorado State Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in order to qualify for disciplines within CTE Programs. Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Meeting all scheduled classes/labs/clinics and providing instruction in accordance with the philosophy and objectives of the college and the Department Chair’s approved course outline.

  2. Using teaching methods and media designed to reach students of varying educational and experiential backgrounds to allow each student the opportunity to master the objectives of the course.

  3. Informing students of course requirements through a course syllabus, including: specific objectives, means of attaining objectives, and methods of instruction and grading.

  4. Evaluating students on a continuing basis to allow them to be aware of their own progress.

  5. Participate in department and/or college level assessment of student learning outcomes in general education and career/technical courses and programs as required.

  6. Recommending instructional materials, textbooks, appropriate instructional equipment, and the Library supportive reference materials.

  7. Maintaining and submitting records as required by policy and procedures.

  8. Promoting affirmative action equal opportunity concepts within the scope of assigned responsibilities.

  9. Maintaining required credentials, licenses, certification as appropriate, and proficiency and up-to-date knowledge in the subject matter area.
