CCCS to Announce Finalists this Fall
Aug. 1, 2023 (Denver, CO) – The Colorado Community College System (CCCS) has launched a nationwide search to select Red Rocks Community College (RRCC)’s next president following President Michele Haney’s retirement announcement this May.
The confidential process, led by Christina Cecil, CCCS Chief Human Resources Officer, is underway with the goal of announcing a new president in December. Prospective candidates are encouraged to apply by Friday, September 22 to receive full consideration, and community members may nominate leaders through this form.
“Dr. Haney has been a steadfast champion of students and an innovative leader for RRCC,” said CCCS Chancellor Joe Garcia. “We are looking for candidates who share her commitment to equity and inclusion; bring unique ideas to strengthen and broaden industry partnerships; and advance a bold vision for the college’s future.”
A search advisory committee, comprised of the following college and community representatives, will screen applicants and recommend finalists to the CCCS Chancellor for final selection this fall.
- Dr. Armando Burciaga, Dean of Students, RRCC
- Brandon English, Chemistry Faculty, RRCC
- Bryan Bryant, Vice President of Administrative Services, RRCC
- Greg Berry, LTC Operations, RRCC
- TBD, Student, RRCC
- Dr. John Trefny, RRCC Community Advisor
- Brad Rupert, Member, State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education
- Dr. Marielena DeSanctis, President, Community College of Denver
- Fiona Lytle, Chief Communications Officer & Legislative Liaison, CCCS
CCCS encourages the RRCC community and stakeholders to give input on the challenges and opportunities facing RRCC—as well as preferred qualifications and characteristics of the next president—through this form. Community feedback will help develop a position profile that will guide the selection process.
