Fiona Lytle

Fiona Lytle oversees the Office of Public and Legislative Affairs for the Colorado Community College System (CCCS). In this role, she directs public and media relations, strategic communications, marketing, and the System Office’s digital presence. She also manages the System’s legislative initiatives and strategies, serving as the primary liaison to the Colorado General Assembly and the United States Congress. She brings more than 15 years of experience leading successful community and marketing initiatives across academic, government, business, and non-profit settings.

Before joining CCCS in July 2017, Fiona supported external affairs efforts at Aera Energy, California’s second-largest oil and gas producer. Earlier in her career, she served as research analyst and marketing specialist for the Kern Economic Development Corporation (KEDC), a public-private partnership dedicated to diversifying the community’s economic base. She has also worked in the California Community College System as an instructor and program coordinator for the Kern Community College District’s Clean Energy Center and the Business & Entrepreneurship Center.

Fiona is an appointed member of the American Association of Community Colleges’ Commission on Public Relations Advocacy and Advancement, which shapes national messaging and strengthens support for community colleges’ vital role in higher education and workforce development. She also serves as Colorado’s representative to the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) and was recognized as its Communicator of the Year in 2023. In addition, Fiona is a member of the Colorado Business Roundtable’s Policy Cabinet, contributing to statewide policy discussions focused on workforce development and economic growth.

Fiona holds a B.S. in biological sciences and M.A. in higher education administration from the University of the Pacific, where she graduated Phi Beta Kappa.
