POLICY STATEMENT
The mission of the Colorado Community College System shall be to serve Colorado residents by offering a broad range of general, personal, career, and technical education programs. The Community Colleges shall not impose admission requirements upon any student; however, admission to a Community College does not guarantee enrollment in a specific program that has prerequisites.
The objectives of the Community Colleges shall be to provide educational programs to fill the occupational needs of youth and adults in career and technical fields; two-year transfer educational programs to qualify students for admission to the junior year at other Colleges and Universities; basic skills; workforce development; concurrent enrollment for college-ready high school students; a broad range of personal and career education for adults; high school diplomas for learners who cannot be served by the school district in which they reside; technical, career, and workforce development Bachelor of Applied Science degree programs; and Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion degree programs that address the needs of the community.
Each Community College may offer two-year degree programs with or without academic designation, and, upon approval of the State Board for Community Colleges and Occupational Education, may offer technical, career, and workforce development Bachelor of Applied Science degree programs, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing completion degree programs, in accordance with the requirements set forth in C.R.S. § 23-60-211. Each Community College may also offer a high school diploma, pursuant to C.R.S. § 23-60-111.
Additionally, pursuant to C.R.S. § 23-60-211, Red Rocks Community College may offer a graduate program in physician assistant studies.
SCOPE
This Policy applies to the Colorado Community College System, including its Colleges (CCCS or System).
INSTITUTIONAL ACCREDITATION
The Community Colleges are authorized to affiliate with the Higher Learning Commission.
PROCEDURES
The Chancellor shall promulgate such procedures as may be needed to implement this policy.
