POLICY STATEMENT

The President of each College in the Colorado Community College System (CCCS or System) shall facilitate the establishment of a duly elected student government at their respective institution. The student government’s membership shall represent and advocate for the diverse voices of the student body for which they are elected to serve.

SCOPE

This policy applies to each College in the System.

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

Each student government shall have governing organizational documents which provide for a representative organization which can advise the College administration regarding student opinions on College matters. Governing organizational documents approved by the respective College shall remain in effect until amended in accordance with the procedures outlined in those documents.

Student government organizational documents adopted after the effective date of this policy must be approved by referendum vote of the student body and by the College President.

Each College shall designate at least one full-time employee of the College to serve as an organization advisor to the student government.

ALLOCATION OF STUDENT ACTIVITY FEE MONIES

The College President or designee(s) shall provide the student government with the opportunity to provide recommendations regarding the allocation of student activity fee monies each academic year. Administration of student fees monies will be carried out per Board Policy 4-20.

PROCEDURES

The Chancellor shall promulgate such procedures as may be needed to implement this policy.
