APPLICATION
The procedure applies to the Community Colleges within the Colorado Community College System.
BASIS
The System President shall implement the process by which the Colleges award the Colorado Student Grant beginning with the 2011-2012 award year.
PROCEDURE
Students must meet all of the following criteria to be eligible:
- Be a citizen or national of the United States, be in the United States for other than a temporary purpose and intend to become a permanent resident according to federal regulations, or be a citizen of the Freely Associated States: the Federated States of Micronesia and the Republics of Palau, and the Marshall Islands;
- Have a high school diploma, have completed homeschooling at the secondary level, earned a high school equivalency diploma from a Colorado Department of Education approved test, or, if beyond the minimum age of compulsory attendance, demonstrate the U.S. Department of Education Ability to Benefit;
- Not be concurrently enrolled in high school;
- Be a Colorado resident student;
- Be an undergraduate student;
- Be enrolled at least half-time, and in an eligible program;
- Be in good standing and demonstrate academic progress according to the published policy regarding Standards of Satisfactory Progress for financial aid purposes;
- If required, be registered with the Selective Service System;
- Satisfy the verification requirements; and
- Have financial need and an Expected Family Contribution (EFC) that is equal to or below 150% of Pell eligibility for the award year.
On a case by case basis, the financial aid director may award the Colorado Student Grant to a student who has financial need, but with an EFC above 150% of Pell eligibility.
AWARDING PROCEDURE
- Individual Colleges may determine the maximum award for full-time students annually, based on the college allocation of funds from the Colorado Commission on Higher Education.
- Annual awards for full-time eligible students must not be less than $500 and may not exceed unmet need, up to a maximum of $5,000.
- Colleges may prorate the annual full-time award for students attending less than full-time, but at least half time.
REVISING THIS PROCEDURE
CCCS reserves the right to change any provision or requirement of this procedure at any time and the change shall become effective immediately.
